Seven Keys to be a Latter-day Saint (Mormonism)
These seven keys to Mormonism, while not a definitive outline of Latter-day Saint (Mormon) Beliefs, given as a brief, yet concise insight into what makes a Latter-day Saint (Mormon).

1. Home and Family Come First
First above the Lord? No, not at all. But to raise and belong to a loving family is to enjoy the Lord's choicest blessing. Strong families are a taste of heaven on earth.

2. Try Always to Stand On Your Own Feet
A Latter-day Saint (Mormon) believes in not asking for help until he's done his best to solve the problem on his own. This way he builds confidence and inner strength.

3. Work Is Something to Enjoy
Many people think of work as drudgery, a tiresome, often boring way to get the things they want or need. But Latter-day Saints (Mormons) find joy in work. It's a "Ruling Principle" of their lives.

4. Life Is a Blessing and a Responsibility
Along with the good things we inherit --this beautiful, bounteous land and its freedoms --goes an obligation to keep it that way. And where and when we can, to improve it.

5. Temperance: for Health and Happiness
Latter-day Saints (Mormons) are taught not to smoke, drink, take tea or coffee. From childhood on, they live by their inspired Word of Wisdom.

6. You Learn --That You May Serve
Knowledge, Latter-day Saints (Mormons) believe, is more than a college degree or means to a job. It can increase our spirituality, prepare us for greater service to humankind.

7. Faith Makes you Welcome Each New Day
Latter-day Saints (Mormons) have Church programs that express their faith every day of the week with rewarding results for both themselves and others.

Never expect a Latter-day Saint (Mormon) to try to inspire faith by reciting miracles. He knows it's the other way around. Faith comes first. Then the miracle.

Of the seven beliefs that make a Latter-day Saint (Mormon), surely belief in the Lord, belief that He lives --faith in His infinite, eternal love --surely this is the deepest, strongest, most divine belief of all.

It is the Latter-day Saints' (Mormons') daily bread, their assurance, in Christ, of life everlasting. It swells their hearts with joy. It makes them sing, "All is well! All is well!"

NOTE: They are called Mormons because of their belief of the Book of Mormon, another Testament of Jesus Christ --His visiting of the American continent after His Resurrection in Jerusalem. In the ancient Church of Christ, the members of His Church are called "Saints," and in His restored Church in the latter-days (,i.e., our present time) that bears also the name of Lord, "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints," --the members are called "Latter-day Saints."
